Dental Emergencies Treatment – A Comprehensive List Of The Most Common Types

There are usually no problems when you visit the dentist for routine cleanings. But sometimes, things happen that require immediate attention. These situations include toothaches, broken teeth, bleeding gums, and other dental emergencies.

We have explained these dental emergencies below and what you should do immediately when you go through one.

Most Common Types of Dental Emergencies

Broken Tooth

If you break a tooth, rinse with warm water and apply an ice pack to reduce swelling. You should also call your dentist immediately. He or she will likely prescribe pain medication and recommend a follow-up appointment.

Chipped or Cracked Tooth

If you accidentally bite into something hard, such as a piece of metal, you should try to remove the object by gently pulling it out. If you cannot do so, you should rinse your mouth with warm water and apply cold compresses to the area. Call your dentist right away.

Gum Disease

You should also call your dentist immediately if you notice any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, pain, or bleeding gums. These symptoms indicate an abscess, which requires immediate treatment.
